eyePhone: Making Stronger Photographs with your Camera Phone by Al Smith

A few years ago most photographers used one of three types of camera – compact cameras, SLRs or medium/large format cameras. Now, people shoot on all sorts of devices; including mirrorless cameras, toy cameras and camera phones. I’ve even seen people taking photos with iPads (it’s true).

The use of camera phones has really taken off. I guess that’s partly because of photographers like Chase Jarvis championing the iPhone’s camera. But probably mostly because most people carry their mobile phones with them, and if that mobile has a camera then it’s the most convenient way to take a photo most of the time. Especially if you have no other camera with you.

More importantly, camera phones can be fun. Apps like Instagram and Snapseed are enjoyable to use. Throw in the social networking side of apps like Instagram and you have a new (and increasingly popular) way of taking and sharing photos.

There’s more to using a camera phone than pointing and shooting. A good photographer can create beautiful and interesting images with a phone’s camera as well as a high end digital SLR. And if you’re wondering how to get the best out of yours, then you need the latest Craft & Vision ebook eyePhone: Making Stronger Photographs with your Camera Phone.

Author Al Smith does a fantastic job of explaining how and why to use your camera phone. This ebook is full of tips about how to get the best from your camera’s phone, regardless of which one you own. He explores the topics of light and composition, recommends some cool editing apps and encourages you to share your best photos online. For Al, camera phones are all about fun, spontaneity and play. Not to mention there’s now no excuse for missing the moment.
