Online promotion works best when imagination and innovation combine to create a remarkable idea. Seven London based photographers did just that.

Many photographers never use their websites for anything more than displaying some photos and posting a bio page. But for the professional or aspiring pro, a website can form a key part of their self-promotion strategy, and even generate income directly from sales of prints or stock images.

The goal of any commercial photographer should be to have an innovative website that’s simple to navigate and with content that gets people talking. One group of young photographers have done just that.

Fine Art Photographer Spotlight: Joseph Szymanski

This is the first of a new series where I’ll be taking a quick look at the work of a fine art or travel photographer whose work’s caught my eye.

Detroit born Joseph Szymanski moved to San Francisco to study photography and never moved away. After graduating he became disillusioned with working as a freelance photographer in the digital age, picked up his old Leica film cameras and some Kodak Tri-X 400 and returned to the darkroom to create more artistic photographs.

The Photography of -Manitu-

Personally I wouldn’t call me a photographer as I wouldn’t describe my photos as an art. Photography is only one of my hobbies so I don’t really take my work seriously. I only do it for pure enjoyment. I’ve started photography as my hobby in the last 4 months, so I am a quite amateur. I don’t have any art education. I studied economics at the University of Warsaw. One day I just started experimenting with my camera…and it seems that some people like my photos. I am an aesthete and I seek beauty and harmony in everything around me… When I see something beautiful, I want to capture it and immortalize it forever…
