The Magic of Black and White is a Flickr group for anyone that likes black and white photography. I created it when my first eBook was launched on Craft & Vision. It has grown to over 220 members who have posted more than 2300 photos. I am very impressed by the photos in the group pool – so I thought that I would present fifty of my favourite images from the group here on my blog.

Venice: A Monograph

David duChemin has just released another eBook on Craft and Vision. ‘Venice: A Monograph‘ is different from the the eBooks that you’ve seen so far. The first in the Print and the Process series, it’s a combination monograph and narrative. There’s a series of photos that David took on a recent four day trip to Venice, plus some thoughts from the author about the concept behind the photos.

Inspirational Black & White Photos


Inspirational black and white photo

In the conclusion to my eBook The Magic of Black & White: Part I – Vision I wrote about looking at the work of other photographers for inspiration. So where do I go to look for inspirational black and white photos?

One source is Flickr. The interface makes it easy to keep track of the latest photos from my contacts and groups. I have my favourite photographers – and today I’m going to share the work of fourteen of them with you. A tip – if you look at their profiles you will see the photos they have marked as favourites. This is a good way to find the work of new photographers.
