The Destination
Anyone who has read my ebook Andes knows that this region in South America holds a special place in my heart. In September 2012 I return, and I invite you to come with me.
We’ll travel to some unbelievably far-flung and photogenic places, impossible to visit without guides, 4WD vehicles and the backup of satellite phones. This is a real adventure, and includes two days exploring abandoned mining towns in the remote Andes and a night camping by the Laguna Llullaillaco at nearly 4000 metres (over 13,000 feet) above sea level. We’ll also visit the Salinas Grandes, one of the largest and most beautiful salt flats in Argentina, and the amazing pumice stone field in Catamarca, with 20 metre (60 feet) tall pumice stones.
Join me to create magical images in the Andes!
You can view the full itinerary here at Another World Photography.

Fitness level
This trip involves extended travel at high altitudes, so please read the information at Another World Photography carefully. We will use 4WD vehicles for transportation but you’ll get the maximum enjoyment from the excursion if you are physically fit. Every participant must complete and sign a standard liability waiver and medical form before participating in this workshop.
What will I learn?
I will be with you every step of the way once we leave the city of Salta to start our High Andes Adventure. I’ve travelled to some (but not all) of these locations before so I know what to expect in terms of scenery and environment. There is no set curriculum but I will be there to advise on the photographic techniques required to make the most of these spectacular locations.
There will be opportunities to shoot these amazing landscapes at sunrise, sunset and at night to make the most of the clear skies and beautiful quality of light at high altitude. In the evenings we can enjoy discussions on the techniques and philosophies of photography, creative vision and style.

Sounds great, how do I book?
Go to the High Andes Adventure page at Another World Photography, which contains all the details you need to know about the trip. You’ll fly into Buenos Aires, where you’ll be met by Daniel Portal, and from there you’ll fly to the city of Salta in northwest Argentina to begin the adventure. If you’d like to spend a few days in Buenos Aires, the ‘Paris of the south’, before heading to the Andes, please contact Daniel Portal of Another World Photography. He’ll be glad to help out. And of course, contact either one of us at any time with your queries.
